Also called Jewelry That Brings Hope, the Sand dollar has the most personal meaning to Heather Maertens. The first sand dollar was created for a great aunt of Heather’s who was battling lung cancer and wanted a special gift to give a friend for all her love and support. Since then, the collection has grown to include the sand dollar in several sizes to be worn as pendants or earrings. Today the collection is even more special to Heather, her great aunt recently lost her fight against cancer and the sand dollars now serve as a tribute to the life of Aunt Shirley. Heather donates 15% of the proceeds from each sand dollar sold to Relay for Life of Calvert County which will go towards local cancer research, treatment and support.
The sand dollar collection features four sizes of pendants and small earrings available in sterling silver, 14kt yellow gold, or 14kt two tone with diamond accents.
Heather also created a special piece for Relay for Life of Calvert County. The footprint, the logo for Relay for Life of Calvert County, represents the American Cancer Society’s goal of becoming “one step closer to a cure”. With every footprint sold, a donation will be made to Relay for Life of Calvert County. The footprint is available in a pendant or a charm size in sterling silver or 14kt gold. The back of the footprint may be engraved for a personal touch.
